Lite novels [edit]
Infinite Stratos began as a lite novel series written by Izuru Yumizuru, with illustrations provided by Okiura.[13] The first book was published by Media Factory under their MF Bait-and-switch J label on May 31, 2009. As of April 25, 2018, twelve volumes have been released.
Due to conflict between the publisher (Media Mill) and the author, publication of the light novels was under suspension.[fourteen] [xv] Later, the author confirmed that he is simultaneously writing a new work and continuing Space Stratos through Kodansha.[16] The novels are now being published by Overlap under their Overlap Bunko imprint, with CHOCO replacing Okiura as illustrator. Reprints of the outset vii volumes begun on April 25, 2013, starting with the first ii volumes.[17] The series will terminate in the 13th volume.[18]
The light novels are beingness translated into traditional Chinese and the first volume was published and released by Sharp Point Press[nineteen] on November 9, 2010. The Chinese translations of the light novels were originally under an indefinite break.[xx] Yumizuru cited that Media Factory'southward overseas representatives were engaging in contracts with strange publishers without the author'south permission equally the reason for the pause.[20] Yumizuru had also stated that he was willing to fight over this affair in courtroom if necessary.[20]
On February 27, 2018, J-Novel Guild announced it had licensed and begun translating the series into English language.[21]

A manga adaptation by Kenji Akahoshi began serialization in the manga magazine Monthly Comic Alive on May 27, 2010, its July 2010 issue, and ended in the September 2012 issue on July 27, 2012. The first jump volume was released on Dec 22, 2010,[53] and released five volumes until September 21, 2012 under their Live Comics imprint.[54]
Homura Yūki launched a 2d manga adaptation in Shogakukan's seinen manga magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-10 on May 18, 2013.[55] [56] The manga went on hiatus starting on June xix, 2018, and returned in 2019.[56] The manga finished on February 19, 2020.[57] [58] Shogakukan collected its capacity in viii tankōbon volumes, released from November xix, 2013 to March nineteen, 2020.[59] [60]
Cyberspace radio [edit]
An Internet radio show named Radio IS, produced by Super A&K+, aired from January 1 to March 26, 2011.[61] The show was hosted by Yōko Hikasa, the voice actor of Houki Shinonono, and Asami Shimoda, the voice actor of Lingyin Huang. The commencement episode was available in the listening athenaeum for three weeks, whereas subsequent episodes were available for two weeks.[61] A second radio bear witness, called Radio IS Overtime ( Radio IS 延長戦 , Rajio IS Enchōsen ) began ambulation on Apr 9, 2011, and aired 4 biweekly episodes until May 21, 2011.
Anime [edit]
An anime adaptation for Space Stratos was first announced on June 21, 2010,[62] and its official website opening on August 8, 2010.[63] The adaptation is directed by Yasuhito Kikuchi who also directed Macross Frontier [64] with Eight Flake, who also handled Macross Frontier,[64] animative the adaptation.[65] The character designer and chief animation managing director of the anime is Takeyasu Kurashima and the mecha designer is Takeshi Takakura.[65] The script was handled by Atsuhiro Tomioka, Chinatsu Hōjō, and Fumihiko Shimo.[65] Shimo will also be handling the series' limerick.[65] The anime aired in Japan between Jan 7 to April i, 2011 on TBS,[66] with subsequent runs on CBC, SUN-Television set, KBS, and BS-TBS. Six DVD and Blu-ray volumes were released by Media Mill between March xxx and September 21, 2011.[67] An original video animation (OVA) episode, entitled IS <Infinite Stratos> Encore: A Sextet Yearns to Be in Love ( IS<インフィニット・ストラトス>アンコール 『恋に焦がれる六重奏』 , IS <Infinitto Sutoratosu> Ankōru: Koi ni Kogareru Rokujūsō ), was released in Japan on DVD and Blu-ray on December 7, 2011.[68] A 2d season of the anime series was announced in April 2013.[69]
The anime is licensed in North America by Sentai Filmworks,[70] with simulcasts provided by Anime Network on its video website. Section23 Films released the series and the OVA with an English language dub (produced by Seraphim Digital) on DVD and Blu-ray on April 10, 2012.[71]
The commencement season of the anime is licensed in the United Kingdom past MVM Films for release on February 17, 2014 on DVD.
The second season of the anime aired from October 4 to December 20, 2013.[72] Sentai Filmworks has also acquired the second season for streaming and dwelling video release in 2014.[73]
The anime'due south soundtrack is equanimous by Hikaru Nanase.[65] The opening theme song for the anime is "Direct Jet", performed by Minami Kuribayashi.[74] The ending theme vocal is "Super∞Stream", with the first episode version sung by Yōko Hikasa, the 2d and third episode version sung by Hikasa and Yukana, the 4th and fifth episode version sung past Hikasa, Yukana and Asami Shimoda, the 6th and seventh episode version sung past Hikasa, Yukana, Shimoda and Kana Hanazawa and the final version for the rest of episodes sung by Hikasa, Yukana, Shimoda, Hanazawa and Marina Inoue.[74] Each version of the song reflects the voice actresses' character who is running with Ichika in the episodes' ending credits. The CD single for "Directly Jet" was released on January 26, 2011, and the CD unmarried for "Super∞Stream" was released on February xvi, 2011.[74] Both singles are published nether the Lantis label.[74] For the OVA, the ending theme is "Best Partner" ( ベストパートナー , Besuto Pātonā ) by Yōko Hikasa. For the second season, the opening theme is "Truthful Bluish Traveler" by Minami Kuribayashi and the ending theme is "Beautiful Heaven" by Yōko Hikasa.
Games [edit]
A 2014 video game, titled Space Stratos 2: Ignition Hearts for the PlayStation three and PlayStation Vita, was released in Nippon on Feb 27, 2014. Its plot focuses on memories from Ichika's schoolhouse festival, and is adult past 5pb.[75] A TCG game from Bushiroad'south Five gross was released on November eight, 2013. Characters from Infinite Stratos also feature in the PlayStation Vita game Kaku-San-Sei Million Arthur.[76]
A PC mecha action game developed past 5pb. titled Infinite Stratos: Versus Colors was released in Nippon on Dec 31, 2014.[77] Another video game titled Infinite Stratos ii: Love and Purge for the PlayStation three and PlayStation Vita was released in Japan on September 3, 2015.[78] A cross-platform Gacha game titled "Infinite Stratos: Archetype Breaker" ( インフィニット・ストラトス アーキタイプ・ブレイカー , Infinitto Sutoratosu: Ākitaipu Bureikā ) was released by DMM Games in December 2017, and was shutdown on August 27, 2018.[79] [80] [81] Withal, an offline version of the game is still available for download and play.[82]

The low-cal novels have collectively sold 1.two million copies as of February 2011.[83]
The opening theme of the anime adaptation, "Directly Jet", reached No. 16,[84] and the ending theme, "Super∞Stream", reached No. 10 on the Oricon charts.[85] The Blu-ray release of its get-go volume sold around 22,000 copies in its first week, becoming only the sixth-always kickoff volume of whatsoever anime goggle box series to reach number ane on Oricon'southward Blu-ray Disc weekly overall sales chart.[86]
Theron Martin of Anime News Network criticized the anime for its "unbelievably dense protagonist" and weak storyline, only the action sequences received praise.[1]
